Hey, it's Rune! :)
You can find an audio version of the blog here.
We went to Berlin in March and did some workshops with the British Council in Germany. I would like to share a little about what we got up to.
I arrived a little early so I got to spend some time with my lovely friend who's from Berlin and knows all the hot spots - what a blessing and a privilege!
To get to the workshops, we got a train and walked through a beautiful woodland with chirping birds, woodpeckers and the smell of wild garlic blooming. The workshops were set in Spreepark Artspace, in a building called Eierhäuschen which means the egg house, because they used to sell eggs there. I love eggs! We got a great tour of the space and its current exhibitions from Katja, the artistic director at Spreepark Artspace.
The workshops took place over 2 days and explored intergenerational knowledge sharing, and each of the participating groups brought a project to examine through this lens. The first day was all about making a mess, and the second day about making a plan. Although I did enjoy making a mess - I think we had so many questions and ideas and post-it notes that it felt a bit of a relief to move on to the more structured planning day.
I enjoyed the focus on creating a welcoming space for participants and the art of crafting an invitation. It was really cool to meet a lot of different people from the UK and Germany, and hear about a lot of different projects. A lot of us went for some drinks at the end of the second day and we received an invitation by the lovely Eugenia from Commonwealth Theatre Cardiff to attend a play! The play was TURN by Gob Squad Collective - a participatory play about dancing away the darkness. The joy and delight I experienced during this performance and exchange has made me want to join an amateur theatre troupe.

And what else did I get up to? Well, let's just say I visited the Embassy of the Czech Republic...

I'm super happy to be back working with the lovely Produced Moon and super excited for our Glory Mold installation in Glasgow this summer. Keep your eyes peeled for more information, because you will get massive FOMO if you miss it.
xoxo
