For our third VR Theatre Roundtable event we are teaming up with XR Producer Natalie V Hall for a UK wide look at what exciting stuff is going on in VR, XR and live performance. Join us on Zoom for an afternoon of micro-talks and discussion.

Produced Moon are hosting their 3rd in a series of online VR Round Table Talks. With an exciting lineup of guest speakers giving talks on intriguing new VR theatre works, Immersive audio for programming, the innovating new XR resources available in Scotland and much more, followed by breakout room discussions giving attendees the chance to ask questions and discuss practical approaches to working in this hybrid field.

Speaker 1: Julia Merino Calleja [she/her]

Julia is a sound designer and audio programmer, with a background in music and audiovisual engineering, currently based in Edinburgh. She designs sound for a variety of contexts such as films, virtual reality, games and installations. Her practice focuses on immersive sound and its remarkable use as a tool for storytelling. She has also a keen interest in creating interactive experiences where the user could be an active participant in the sonic output. She is currently working on the development of audio for VR experiences. In addition, she works at Black Goblin Audio as an Audio Software Developer.

Speaker 2:  Dr Imants Latkovskis [he/him]

Dr Imants Latkovskis is the Extended Reality Lab Manager at the University of Glasgow's Advanced Research Centre. Prior to this post, he was a postdoctoral research assistant on a £1m Innovate UK funded prooject looking at the use of immersive technology in higher education teaching. His current role involves providing specialist support and guidance to University staff, students, and external visitors using XR technology, including support for teaching and reserch.

Speaker 3: Dan Tucker [he/him]

Currently Executive Producer for 'In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats' (VR) @ East City Films &  Executive Producer of 'Immersive Assembly' (artist residency) @ Mediale  Previously: Executive Producer for 'DAZZLE' (MR); VR Producer and Agile PM @ Mesmerise; Executive Producer @ BBC Arts & Arts Council England - 'New Creatives'; Festival Curator @ Sheffield Doc/Fest; VR Producer @ BBC; Judge/Mentor @ CreativeXR, BAFTA, British Council & Creative England

Speaker 4: Mel & Leo from Produced Moon [both she/her]

For the past 5 years we’ve been slowly growing an approach to VR Theatre making. We’ll be sharing key ideas that underpin our process driven approach to making this kind of work. We’ll talk about two projects in R&D - VR Theatre work Sagittarius A*, and our 360 Climate Music Videos project for schools, as well as the development opportunities we incorporate into our projects.

Tilt Brush Artist: Juliana Loh [she/her]

This event will be creatively documented live in VR by Tilt Brush artists Juliana Loh. Juliana specializes in story, immersive XR design and art. She is a VR world builder for social spaces (theatre) and an Interactive VR artist using google tiltbrush. Her work has been featured in Burning Man VR 2021 as well as International Immersive film festivals. Juliana's background includes brand entertainment, games UX and education. She uses human centric design principles to provide a process-oriented framework for discovery and is available for creative direction + AR/VR opportunities.

- A Q&A . Ask questions and hear more about these ongoing projects. 

- Roundtable discussions.  Attendees split into breakout rooms for group discussions on VR Theatre in the UK - our questions and visions for it's future. A chance to meet other folks working and interested in this space, discuss your own projects, seek advice and build community.

Bursaries

If you are unsalaried and there is a financial barrier to you attending this event, we can pay 6 artists a £62 bursary each (2 hours at SAU rates). Please indicate in your registration form that you would like a bursary, no ‘proof’ or documentation is required.

Please register by 11am on 9th March 2023 if you’d like a bursary. If the bursaries are oversubscribed we will distribute to ensure there is a range of job roles and industry backgrounds represented.
